David Bowie, Outstanding Performer & Fashion Trend Setter

David Bowie has sparked the imagination of a vast amount of clothes designers after the news of his death. The Star Man was the star of the glam rock ego with his Ziggy Stardust persona and was one of the most famous pioneers for androgynous fashion, which have recently made a comeback. Bowie didn't however stick to one persona, he had a plethora of others including Major Tom and The Thin White Duke. All with different looks and costumes.

The Glam Rock star was best known for his astonishing, well thought out music which was also solidified by his outstanding costumes he would perform in. The death of this great performer has been rumoured to have possibly sparked the genderless fashion trend to make a comeback.

Bowie was best known to perform in dresses, heels, blouses and even jumpsuits. He would sport an extravagant face paint, coloured in neon coloured paints and glitter. The people loved it, marking David Bowie a sex symbol of the 1970s. Bowie was quoted "I felt very puny as a human. I thought, F*ck that. I want to be a superhuman."

Bowie was a very brave man for expressing his feminity as it had not yet been seen in a male performer. In the 70's it had not yet been established that men and women could dress however they want, and some could say Bowie is the reason we have a more lax attitude towards peoples fashion sense. So let us not forget the man who just brought outstanding, thought provoking music to us, but a man who pushed the boundaries of fashion to what it is today.

We are saddened by the news of this great man. May his legend live on through both his music and fashion. If you would like to read more about his amazing life, be sure to check out his wikipedia page at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bowie
